Brooklyn-based artist Dan Witz has put up pieces of his artwork throughout Echo Park, Silver Lake, Hollywood and West Hollywood.
Seth Carmichael, co-owner of Carmichael Gallery of Contemporary Art where Witz’s art show is currently running, told LAist, “For him, it’s about not being seen by everybody except for those people who deserve to see it, and those who are the people he cares about.”

On November 7, 2009, from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm, Bedrock (sponsored by AVID) is hosting the College Battle of the Bands LA Regional Finale.
The top bands will battle at Bedrock Studios from 1:30 – 4:30, and then move on to the Echoplex for the evening, with the winner opening up for special guest The Crystal Method.

According to a posting on redcarproperty.blogspot.com, “Despite a 17 year process redesigning the 2 Freeway Terminus at Glendale Blvd. leading to overwhelming support from the community for Alternative D (which maximized public park space), The Powers That Be created a bastardized version they’ll present at a Community Open House on Nov. 4.
“The bastardized version, or as Metro calls it, the ‘Hybrid Alternative,’ completely ignores one of the main purposes of the Terminus redesign: removing vehicle traffic from the southbound flyover ramp at the Terminus. Years ago, I remember then City Councilmember and later, Assemblymember Jackie Goldberg as well as County Supervisor Gloria Molina insisting this was a primary goal because the traffic coming off the flyover ramp was unsafe for vehicles, bicyclists and pedestrians.“

There have been a quite few dogs needing good homes posted on the Echo Park / Elysian Neighborhood Councils Forum as of late. This little guy may end up in the pound if the woman who found him can’t find a new home or at least temporary foster care (due to her landlord’s request to get rid of the dog somehow).He is not fixed or chipped, but is healthy.

Down and Derby, the premier roller skating organization that has quickly garnered a loyal following in cities such as Las Vegas, Pittsburgh, Pomona and New York City, will host a special Halloween event at The Echoplex on Saturday, October 31. Dublab DJs Greenleaf, SFV Acid and Suzanne Kraft will control the roller disco rink’s turntables, broadcasting amplified sounds for the eight-wheeled revelers.
Down and Derby is a retro-inspired roller-skating party created and designed to give attendees a unique nightlife experience. The interactive throwback events combine décor reminiscent of a 70s roller disco with attendees wearing fashion attire evocative of the era. DJs known for pushing the limits of mixing and music production are procured, adding vibrant energy to the event with both underground and popular mixes.
The entry fee is $5 with RSVP, $10 at the door and quad skates of every size will be available to rent for another $5. Guests are welcome to bring their own roller skates to the event.

The People’s Ride was designed for those who cannot make it to LA Critical Mass or want to continue to ride when LACM is over.
The ride usually ends near the start point, close to a Metro Station or bus lines.
We aim to have fun while reminding the LA car culture that there is another alternative. This is a non-confrontational ride through traffic. Educate rather than aggravate. Tell drivers that they are welcome to join us on a bicycle.
This is an all-inclusive ride. Everyone is welcome. No intolerant haters please. Respect the riders and respect the ride.
We ride at night so bring lights for your bike. Bring a spare tube. Wear a helmet if you are not an experienced rider.

LA Critical Mass rides through the city of Los Angeles, exerting our right under California Law to ride bicycles on the street.
This is a easy-paced ride.
Fixed-gear fast riders are encouraged to cork intersections then ride up to the front of the pack and cork again.
Though LAPD has been mostly tolerant of our rides, we don’t want to provoke them. Since this is a night ride, you might want to get a rear red blinking light and a front white blinking light. If they (LAPD) tell us to stop at the red lights, we should stop. Let’s be polite and courteous to drivers. Do not argue or engage in conflict.
USC riders meet at Tommy Trojan 6:00pm, Ride to LACM at 6:30pm.
UCLA riders meet at the Bruin Bear 5:30pm, ride to LACM at 6:00pm.
Westside/Culver City/Mar Vista/Palms riders meet at Crank Mob park (Media Park, Culver City) 6:00pm, ride to LACM at 6:30pm
San Fernando Valley: Meet at Noho Station 6:30pm, ride the Redline down to Vermont and Wilshire. Then ride your bikes to Wilshire and Western.
Eastside, please use the Metro Gold Line, Blue Line and Red Line to get to the Wilshire and Western Metro station.
