City Sip, located near Fire Station 20 on Sunset Boulevard, has been closed for a few days for a little makeover/renovation. Reopening on Friday, September 21, the casual dinner sport promises a reinvention as a wine bar and lounge, and serving a new food menu by Chef Gloria Felix alongside plenty of beer and wine. There will also be an emphasis on happy hour and, of course, lounging and socializing.

In an email, City Sip says, “We cherish our neighborhood & our place in it. We are proud to offer our community a fresh and creative perspective on nightlife in Los Angeles.”

In the video advertising the new City Sip below, owner Nicole Daddio is fed up with the monotonous tone of a wine teacher, thankfully interrupted by a customer saying “We just want wine.” Hear, hear!

Join City Sip Wine Bar & Lounge on Friday, September 21 from 6:00 – 11:00 pm for the grand re-opening. City Sip is located at 2150 Sunset Boulevard.

Today’s Los Angeles Groupon deal comes back to Echo Park, this time you get half off wine at our friendly neighborhood wine bar, City Sip.

This means you spend $20 and you get $40 worth of delicious wine. Great deal! Here’s a little description of the featured wines (and beers!) to tempt you to try few of their 40 wine bottle selections:

Swirl, sniff, and sip your way through potable pleasures such as an Alsatian gewürztraminer from Klipfel ($11/glass), a Felino malbec ($12/glass), or another pick from the encyclopedic selection of bubblies, whites, reds, roses, and other vine-based beauties. Like the three-fisted men who harvest the grapes, wine flights provide a one-two-three palate punch, while dessert wines such as a Landskroon morio muscat ($11/glass) gently slap tongues with sweetness. A selection of craft beers including Allagash Curieux ($8) and Eagle Rock Brewery Solidarity ($7), plus a handful of nonalcoholic options, round out the liquid luxuries.

The fine print: Limit 2 per person. Limit 1 per table. Not valid toward retail or classes. Tax and gratuity not included. Not valid with other offers, including happy hour.

Click here to visit Groupon.com and purchase today’s deal. Get it soon – you have until midnight tonight!

CitySip is hosting a class slash tasting on home beer brewing on Saturday, May 15.

The cost of the class is $45, which gets you the home brewing lessons, beer trivia and tasting, and pizza.

It’s going down in the super secret employee parking lot behind CitySip LA. We’ll be brewing beer, tasting beer, talking about beer, and eating Two Boots pizza! Expect to taste about 6-8 commercial beers… and there might be some extras “not included in the price.”

We’ll be starting out with a pretty basic extract brew this time, so you’ll learn all you need to know to get started making your own!

The class takes place from 1:00 pm – 4:00pm, and they advise that you wear clothes that can get dirty or wet.

To make a reservation, call City Sip at (213) 483-9463 or email for your spot.
