Owner Genevieve Ostrander just reopened the Echo Park Avenue bakery in June after some renovations and a menu rehab, but the six-year-old business is now officially up for sale. She tells Eater LA that she put the bakery up for sale due to “unforeseen medical issues,” and that she is “VERY motivated to sell.” Asking price is $150,000 or best offer (plus rent).

Cupcake lovers rejoice! Delilah Bakery reopened softly today after the renovation, repainting, and rethinking of the Echo Park Avenue bakery.

Echo Park resident and owner Genevieve Ostrander has partnered up with realtor Darren Hubert of Urban Hillsides to rehab the look and the business model of the nearly six-year-old bakery. Known for its amazing cupcakes like the Jack Daniels flavor (here to stay, by the way) and incredible bread pudding, there will be slight menu changes including an expanded weekday breakfast menu. They will also focus on expanding the business’ catering services.

The new and improved, and certainly re-energized, Delilah Bakery hours are now 8:00 am – 4:00 pm daily, and closed Mondays.

Delilah Bakery will be finalizing more later this month when it has its official grand reopening.

Today is National Cupcake Day! Thankfully there are plenty of ways you can indulge in the unofficial celebration. We have a couple of favorites around Echo Park we’d like to share:

Delilah Bakery: Simply the best cupcakes around- try the Chocolate Orange Jack Daniels or the Red Velvet, particularly delicious. They cost about $3.25 (I think) and are totally worth it. The Bakery was also highlighted on the Huffington Post for the Best Cakes in Los Angeles.

Soul Cups: Echo Park resident Celeste Alleyne is the master chef behind this cupcake catering company. They are, indeed, cupcakes with soul: made from down home, soulful and natural ingredients. “Pound O’ Butter” and “Lemon Drop” are just two of the flavors she offers at $40 per dozen (check the website for more info on pricing).

It might not be too late – Delilah Bakery is taking orders for Thanksgiving pies, which is coming up soon on Thursday, November 25. Order delicious fillings like Pumpkin Bourbon Pie, Cherry Cobbler (a classic), or a Apple Brown Betty. You can also grab a tub of whipped cream for $5!

These gals know what they are doing – they took home third place last September at KCRW’s 2nd Annual Good Food Pie Contest in Beverly Hills for their Peanut Butter Pie with Chocolate Cookie Crust.
