Feeding Birds is celebrating their second anniversary on Saturday, February 5 with a few special treats, including the “release” of a three-color screen printed tees. Here’s what’s going down:

  • Mimosas and mini brunch throughout the day
  • Live music provide by Miles Moore
  • Bring $5 and a light colored shirt for while-you-wait screen printing of their “Echo Park” logo
  • $5 off original (one color) organic print tees in stock

I actually have one of their Echo Park tees, and I really like it! The owners are super friendly, and I’ve gotten a few gifts from the store without hurting my wallet. If you haven’t been there, go check it out!

Feeding Birds is located at 1825 Echo Park Ave.

Facebook update told us they were having some trouble with the heavy rain we’ve been having:

The flood has gotten too bad! We’re going to have to close early today to try and figure something out! Sorry for the inconvenience : (

The dressing room floor and walls are soaked, and water is trickling down from the back toward the front of the store, as well as from a corner near the mail slot. As they try and mop things up, Feeding Birds will be closed for the public, but they are taking private appointments by email.

Though we can expect rain through Wednesday, we’re hoping they will be able to open back up on Tuesday. Good luck guys!

While it looks like the Echo Park Art Walk may be on hiatus, Feeding Birds still wants Echo Park residents to get out and enjoy the community (and the great weather!) this summer. And so came forth the “Midsummer Flock” block party, located in the area around Feeding Birds from 1825-1830 Echo Park Ave. So far, there will be food trucks, live music, art, sales, and maybe even some silkscreening or stenciling at Feeding Birds. Booked so far is:

  • Summer Fling Truck (print t’s, phone cases and Cool Haus)
  • Over The Moon Cookies (Echo Park baked cookies)
  • I ♥ EP merchandise from artist Bill Rangel
  • Musical guests: DefSound and others, Miles Moore (Earthman)
  • Large photography displays and other art to come

Click here for the Facebook event info as they will be updating it as more activities come up.

While exploring Feeding Birds Boutique yesterday (they have some great vintage glassware), I picked up this nicely designed map of local businesses and services in Echo Park (Silver Lake, Los Feliz, and Atwater Village are also included) by MapHawk. The map includes, according to the cover, “hand picked local treasures” in the neighborhood, from accommodations and restaurants, to clothing and beauty spots.

While the seasoned Echo Park resident may not find this useful, newbies to the area would want to stick this up on the fridge to help them discover all the little spots to check out in Echo Park.

You’ll probably be able to pick up the map at other locations like Masa and Delilah’s, but I know for a fact Feeding Birds has a stack. Enjoy!
