    Hello Kelly,

I just wanted to clarify something that you keep noting about the neighborhood council that is factually incorrect.

The Tuesday, May 25th meeting of the Board was not held at the last minute. The meeting was posted according to the Brown Act requirements that we are bound by. We are the only neighborhood group that is required to post our meeting agendas 72 hours before the meeting and have them in a public forum.

When we have a Special Meetings the notification becomes 24 hours. However we work to give as much advance notice about the meeting as possible beyond the 24 hours.

Your comments give your readers the impression that we are having quickly put together meetings when we have to post at least three days in advance. The Brown Act only requires posting in one location that is accessible 24 hours a day.

Neighborhood Councils as part of their certification went beyond the one location and have committed to posting in at least five (5) locations. GEPENC does that.

The Brown Act does not require the agenda be sent out electronically or that it be posted on any blog or website. We do this as part of our outreach efforts.

We had to wait 62 days since the Official Results of our March 20, 2010 election to seat our new Board and we had to go through the mechanics of having three meetings with no quorum to get were we are now.

The new Board is eager to move forward and work together to pass our Budget by June 10th, begin the process of hearing important planning items, reaching out to our stakeholders, organizing community service projects and support important programs in the community.

I hope this information is helpful to you in clarifying the process of noticing our meetings and how we notify the community about GEPENC meetings.

Please let me know if you need any other information about how we function.
