New pizza joint coming to Echo Park

Pizza lovers rejoice! We’ve got a new pizza place joining the ranks of new Echo Park restaurants – this time, however, on the other side of Sunset Boulevard.

Taking over an empty storefront in the same mini-mall as Beauty Box, Sunset Beer, and the computer repair shop, the new restaurant promises to fill in a pizza gap for those of us on the other side of the neighborhood.

We’re taking precautions announcing the people and the name behind the new place for now – the last we heard they were in the process of ending their lease at the current location, so we’ll refrain for the time being (we certainly don’t want to get anyone in trouble!). But let’s just say the menu will delight both hipsters and non-hipsters alike – vegan options, and even a pupusa-style pizza that we’ve heard is amazing.

And what great timing – how awesome would it be to grab a couple of slices to enjoy next door at Sunset Beer with a seasonal microbrew?

Yay! I’m in a weird area (where Glendale and Alvarado meet) so this is within a nice little walk from my place… super excited! Yay!!

That’s awesome! Really stoked there’s some cool stuff coming over our way. Sunset Beer is great. This is a welcome addition. Esp pumped they’ll have some vegan options.

Another pizza place? C’mon Echo Park! Masa is clearly the front runner for pizza in the neighborhood, there is also Two Boots, Little Ceasars (does that even count), and Mohawk Bend. Wish it would be something else….

I agree Amanda…I mean do we really need more pizza around here. We’re already lucky we have some good choices. How about Chinese, BBQ, or a deli style sandwich shop? EP doesn’t have any of those…

Sketchy dentist will stay, they are taking the larger space with the “S&L Medical Group” signage (see the arrow in the article image).
Also can’t wait to be able to walk to it with ease!

Two Boots doesn’t have vegan pizza, or I’d agree there. Mohawk has been pretty iffy. Masa is great, but not really the type of pizza I love, although their deep dish is killer. I’m from the east coast so I’m used to many pizza spots in an area.
There’s an Italian deli in Echo Park that my meat eating friends rave about and that BBQ place in Chinatown is supposed to be great, and is only a hop skip and a jump from EP.

Kelly- I know, I was just pointing out they needed to get out of the plaza; they never appear open, I tried to make an emergency appt there once and they essentially hung up on me, etc. Everything else in there is a new, up and coming business.

In my 5 years in LA, I’ve only found a couple of what I’d consider “good” Chinese restaurants. Again, East coast bias. East coast: good Chinese and Pizza. West coast: good Thai and burritos.

Two Boots is coming out with a vegan pizza for Nov 1 thru Nov 5, plus Daiya vegan cheese will be an optional topping for any whole pie and available on the Earth Mother.
